Many times we recite the Nicene Creed in our worship service, especially after Holy Communion. The words that we recite in the Creed are truths that we find in Scripture. Why do we recite the Creed? How did this Creed come about? What does reciting the Creed mean to me personally?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a long and interesting history behind this Creed. The history includes the struggles of the early Christian leaders to define how they understand God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Is Jesus really man? Is Jesus really God? How can man and God exist in one person? There is a long struggle over hundreds of years in early Christianity before we get the answers to these questions. These struggles will be covered in this course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But how does it affect us? When we understand the events that shape the first 400 years of church history, we will better appreciate the life and work of Jesus Christ. We will marvel and appreciate deeper the incarnation of Jesus Christ. And we should be moved to ask ourselves: “How do I love our Lord and Master Jesus Christ as a result?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
